Introduction
Angela Foglia is the founder of secure-transmit, a secure, no-frills managed file transfer (MFT) solution designed for individuals and businesses that require a safe and reliable method for transmitting proprietary, sensitive, or complex data. Developed in partnership with Joe Fridy, the idea for secure-transmit was born from a real-world problem. When Angela’s previous Fortune 500 company separated, they couldn’t find a suitable replacement for the internal file transfer solution they had relied on. Seeing a market gap, she launched secure-transmit to provide an intuitive, subscription-free, infrastructure-light alternative.
Challenge and Goals
When Angela joined the Innovation Forge Startup Accelerator program, secure-transmit had already launched but had yet to generate revenue. The product was technically solid, but the company struggled with a clear customer profile and business strategy for scaling. Angela’s biggest challenges were understanding the target market, validating product-market fit, and building visibility.
While the product offered standout features—no account setup, no IT infrastructure, and end-to-end encryption with MFA—the team needed to work through the process of identifying the right audiences who would benefit most from those features.
Outcomes and Results
Through the Innovation Forge Startup Accelerator program, Angela was introduced to a business coach to assist in defining key objectives, clarify traction channels, and identify the product’s unique competitive advantages. The program also provided access to the books and activities that helped shape quarterly business goals and refine outreach strategies.
Since joining the program, secure-transmit has improved its product design in preparation for version 2 and launched a range of marketing efforts, including a LinkedIn ad campaign, a podcast appearance, Facebook setup for Meta ads, and a local Meet-N-Greet with market leaders. These efforts have increased visibility and networking opportunities, putting the company on a clear path to its next goal: securing its first five paying customers.
Impact and Next Steps
Angela and her team are now focused on customer acquisition and refining their understanding of ideal customer profiles. The progress made during the program has laid a foundation for future growth, including continued product iteration and more targeted marketing. With a clear roadmap in place for the rest of 2025, secure-transmit is positioning itself as a go-to solution for secure data transfers without the complexity of traditional MFT platforms.
Angela credits the Innovation Forge Startup Accelerator program and the team at the Digital Foundry with being a vital part of her entrepreneurial journey, “The Digital Foundry program has been a support that was critical in our entrepreneurial journey. The workshops were fundamental in validating our product, as well as getting feedback on improvements.” The mentorship, resources, and peer feedback helped validate their product and sharpen the go-to-market strategy.
